unseen truths

Sifting slowly through
the mired yuck,
my feeble self
trembles
at the thought of
living.

Behind the walls
in another world,
screams go unheard,
pain goes unnoticed,
and the anger rises
to drown it all
with a final ending.

She doesn’t notice
for it is just another face,
another day,
another week.

What does it matter?

No words have been spoken.
No cries on the phone.
No screams in defense,
No crisis or bother.

And so it goes-

She is fine.
They are fine.
Oh it’s just her.
Oh it’s just them.
She’ll survive.
They’ll survive.
It’s no big deal.

Write away
why don’t you
of oh how fine she is.
But just be warned-
a day will come,
a night will dawn,
and she will be gone…
and we shall be too.
