We’re at our local library… we just received a new library card because we’re now in a different library system. We breathed a sigh of relief when our library card number was a safe and good number. Odd how that keeps working out now that we’ve moved– so many numbers working out so well.
We’re hanging in there and missing having access to the Internet to connect with friends, write, read blogs, and to just browse the web or look up something we want to know more about, etc. We finally ordered our dsl service and our dsl modem and hook-up should be set up by Thursday evening. On the 13th of course. At first we ordered our dsl service the next day after we ordered our phone service, but they couldn’t get the order to go through because there was a pending order for our phone. So by the time we could get around to dealing with it, the dates were just too many wrong numbers, and then we procrastinated on it, and anyway, it’s finally happening.
So that’s that. Our apartment is wonderful– we like the building, we like the floor we’re on, etc. We will take a picture of the ‘view’ we receive the minute the elevator doors open up to our floor– just a really nice welcoming collection of large green plants and a ’sitting area’ of sorts, etc. It’s just nice and comes along with some huge windows as well.
Our actual apartment has huge windows in the living room and our bedroom. We haven’t measured the height, but when we do, we’ll give both the dimensions. It’s great for the daylight to come in and since it faces the North area, we hope to have a fair amount of direct sunlight in the summer. :-) Our brother helped us to arrange our furniture in a way that works very well for us. We had some ideas and had tried out a few combinations of things, and still had some more ideas, but our brother had some ideas that we tried with him, and he came up with a suggestion that works wonderfully. It gives us walking space (when we aren’t unpacking boxes and figuring out where stuff goes) and it is just going to be really nice once we get things settled in our new place.
We have sooo much deep cleaning to do in our new apartment. The top of the kitchen cabinets are just gross (double gross out mega factor) of layers of years of dust and whatever else up there. Aside from the needed scrubbing inside and out of the cabinets and so many numerous other things we need to do to ultra clean it (the things people don’t ordinarily think of or notice but we do) to make it ‘our place.’ The surprising thing is that we’re handling our OCD stuff in terms of cleaning, unpacking, organizing, etc. really well. It’s *huge* that we’ve even unpacked nearly everything, and even bigger that for some things (such as our kitchen cupboards), that we’ve just stuffed things wherever we could fit them and will figure out how best to rearrange and organize, etc. later… nevermind that we actually put stuff in dirty cabinets! Yikes! That’s just huge. So yeah, there’s a lot of anxiety that we’ve been feeling in doing all of this… but we’re also managing it okay. I mean years ago there was no way you could talk us into unpacking and putting away anything or even doing anything substantial towards getting order about the place (general wise) (bigger picture wise) until we had cleaned every itty bitty detail of the apartment and our personal belongings, and until we had thoroughly determined the best place for XYZ and deep cleaned XYZ, etc.
So before you start thinking we are OCD clean fanatics (which some of us are and can be once we start cleaning something), we have the other extreme of hoarding (think clutter, clutter, mega dissaray), that apparently is related to OCD in some kind of way. We found that out one time watching a tv show about it but haven’t researched it a whole lot. Anyway, we’re working on that aspect too, and trying to hide it away in boxes and right now a shit load of it is in a storage unit that I so badly want to get rid of as soon as I can.
Well the library is about to close and we better send this before the computer shuts down.
The basic general gist is that we can see improvement in our OCD stuff and we’re getting more towards the balancing of things with it. We still have a LONG ways to go, but we’re getting there. The other thing is that I think this SSRI that we’re taking… especially with the more recent increase in it, that it might actually be having an effect on us or is that affect on us? Bleh… running out of time to use the computer. We’ve tried a number of SSRI’s with our Wellbutrin the last few years, so that may have helped somewhat. I don’t know. Just general thinking aloud here.
Gotta run… will be back in a few days! I can’t wait to be back online at home and catch up with what’s going on and have connection via online to both online and in-person friends.
